Derby Conference Centre Announces New Charity Partnership with Bridge the Gap 

The Derby Conference Centre has announced Bridge the Gap as its latest charity partner, marking the start of a meaningful collaboration focused on supporting the local community and raising awareness of an important cause. 

The partnership was confirmed following a recent meeting between the Derby Conference Centre team and the charity’s leadership. The meeting gave the Derby Conference Centre team valuable insight into Bridge the Gap’s mission and the people it supports, including its work to improve emotional literacy for children through in school sessions, while helping families access the support they need. Both teams were aligned on the importance of creating opportunities, improving access and making a tangible difference within the community.

As part of the collaboration, the Derby Conference Centre will be supporting Bridge the Gap through a range of initiatives across the year, including fundraising activity, awareness campaigns and event support. 

One of the first opportunities to collaborate will be at the upcoming Marketing Derby event taking place at the Derby Conference Centre in May. The event will provide a platform to raise awareness of Bridge the Gap, connect with local businesses and further strengthen community engagement.

We’re delighted to share that The Derby Conference Centre has been awarded Silver accreditation from Greengage’s EcoSmart programme following our latest submission, a significant milestone in our sustainability journey.

This accreditation recognises our commitment to being an environmentally responsible venue, and we’re especially proud to have improved upon our previous Bronze status. The Greengage EcoSmart Accreditation is based on a detailed framework of environmental and sustainability best practices tailored to hospitality and event venues.

To qualify for Silver, venues must demonstrate clear action and policies across six key areas:

1. Energy and Water Conservation – reducing consumption through efficient systems and ongoing monitoring

2. Waste Management – minimising waste, encouraging reuse, and improving recycling processes

3. Responsible Purchasing – prioritising ethical and sustainable suppliers and products

4. Food and Beverage – offering more sustainable, locally sourced, and low-waste catering options

5. Travel and Transport – promoting greener ways for guests and staff to travel

6. Corporate and Social Responsibility – engaging with the local community and ensuring fair and inclusive practices

This recognition is a reflection of the passion and hard work of our team, who continue to embed sustainability across our operations. While we’re thrilled to have achieved Silver, we’re also focused on continuous improvement. We’re now working through our EcoSmart Action Plan with the goal of reaching even higher standards in future assessments.
