Love is in the air and here at The Derby Conference Centre we are starting 2022 with a re-launch of our wedding business and with it, a whole new series of blogs filled with tips, tricks and weddings here at one of the most unique venues in Derbyshire.
Every month I will take you through a journey with the helpful tips, star suppliers, national awareness months and give you inspiration for your wedding.
With engagement season in full swing and Valentine’s Day around the corner, what better time to launch our newest blog series. And this month we are kicking off with all the romance – we are officially counting down to Valentine’s Day! It is the month of chocolate, flowers, lingerie, candlelit dinners, date nights and gifts (hint: we are launching a whole new event – Murder Mystery, why not get tickets for this or any of our other social events we are putting on the coming months).
Valentine’s Day celebrations go all the way back to the middle ages and have had lots of meanings throughout history, but today we think of it as a day to dedicate and declare our love for each other – which is probably why it is the second most popular date to pop the question.
As hopeless romantics we can’t resist a romantic and unique proposal. Everything from booking out the cinema and showing an animated film telling the story of your love, to the mountain top view, down on one knee popping the question. And of course the lowkey at home proposals with just you and your partner present. We love them all!
Still, sometimes it can be hard to narrow down the perfect proposal for your partners, so we have come up with our top 4 best ways to declare your love and asking those 4 words -WILL YOU MARRY ME? so if you are looking for some inspiration, look no further – we’ve got you!
The Adventure One
Do you both love going on adventures together? Take advantage and plan a “normal” trip and surprise them with a ring just at the right time. Maybe even hire a photographer to capture the moment they turn around and look down to you, ready to ask the question they have probably been waiting for.
Our favourite adventure proposal has to be the mountain top view at sunset! Imagine thinking it is just any normal day with a hike up a mountain and then coming back down already planning your wedding. Hiking not your thing? Why not go with a helicopter ride over the Peak District, bungee jumping or get muddy with an Off Road driving experience in Derbyshire.
The Intimate One
An all-time favourite around the world. A chance to be gooey romantic without the world looking. This is the perfect way to go if your partner doesn’t like to be the centre of attention. Show just how much you know them, by using all their favourite things to create a romantic intimate proposal with a guaranteed yes at the end.
Our favourite intimate proposals include all our favourite things. Make or order their favourite meal, snacks, movie and/or music ready for a relaxing and perfect night – it might even help you control those butterflies that are deemed to be present. Got a rooftop available? Or a balcony? Why not check the weather forecast and make use of fairy lights, candles, and blankets if the sky is clear? And don’t forget that champagne or their favourite cocktail!
After getting your yes, spend a couple of days with just the two of you knowing and prolong that amazing feeling from your Valentine’s Day date night turned proposal.
The Creative One
Do you want extra fun with your proposal? Going down the creative route might just be for you. How about a treasure hunt around places of special relation to your relationship? Or maybe get a special puzzle made with the words “Will you marry me” on it? Remember those farmers using their cows to spell it out? Or those people involving the whole family and pets to surprise their partners? No matter what you choose, there are endless of possibilities only controlled by your own imagination.
The internet is a great source of information for creative proposals but the most important part is that you make sure it is a good fit for you and your partner.
The Public One
If your partner is a bit of a show person, that loves to always be in the centre of it all they deserve a proposal that gives them their time of their lives, so why not arrange a public proposal using all the tricks to surprise her?
Our favourite public proposal must be good old flash mob! That really big one, with lots of choreography, music and confetti (the biodegradable kind of course). So, get all your family and friends involved, use everyone’s network, and get involved with a dance school or why not a theatre group to help you plan it all?
Remember to also get the local shops around involved – you’ll be surprised how willing people are to help in the name of love.
We are sure your partner will love the atmosphere, effort and love that has been put into this proposal – it’s a guaranteed yes!
We love a good proposal and no matter what you choose to do, you are guaranteed it will be remembered and the stories will be told for ages to come – probably even on your wedding day.
The last 2 years’ of restrictions, weddings have been postponed and we have all been waiting for them to get back! Did you know that it is estimated that in 2022 there will be 2.2 million weddings taking place in the UK alone? That is the highest number in 1 year since 1984!
So, if you are looking to get join the 4.4 million other people getting married in 2022 and want a unique wedding venue in Derby, why not get in touch and get your ideal date booked today.
