Our OYO Hotels partnership announcement with plans for a £135k hotel refurbishment

Some of you may have already noticed that we have now partnered with OYO Hotels and Homes UK Ltd. The partnership came about whilst we were looking for investment in our self-catering accommodation ‘India House’ with a view to incorporating that into our hotel. Matthew Hutchings, our Managing Director, approached OYO, a new and upcoming UK brand, for the franchise partnership. But after some discussions, this was not the direction that we ended up taking. Instead we formed a partnership for the main ‘Portland House Hotel’ to become an OYO Hotel, and with this partnership will come a £135k investment in the hotel rooms.

Guests will be able to book a night’s stay at The OYO Hotel through a new, simple-to-use app, a first for DCC. On the app, you will be able to choose from standard or premier rooms.

When asked about the partnership, Matthew has said: “I was so excited to announce the OYO Hotel for The Derby Conference Centre, it’s a perfect next step following our recent rebrand. We have really enjoyed getting to know the OYO Hotel team and look forward to developing this partnership further.”

It’s been an exciting year for us so far, with the rebrand, the new website and now this partnership. The hotel isn’t the only facility we plan to upgrade. Throughout 2019 there are plans in place for a new restaurant, new meeting rooms, new décor and furniture.
