As the Wedding Co-ordinator at the Derby Conference Centre, I’ve helped plenty of couples bring their vision to life. Here’s my step-by-step wedding planning checklist, designed to help you prepare for your big day, whether you’re planning a large celebration or a more intimate wedding right here in Derby.

12+ Months Before

• Set your budget.
• Choose your date and book your venue. (Hint: The Stephenson & Euston Suite is perfect for any wedding size!)
• Start building your guest list.
• Hire a wedding planner (if needed).

 

9–12 Months Before

• Book your key vendors: photographer, florist, wedding cake, and entertainment.
• Find your dream dress or suit.
• Plan your ceremony and reception details, including themes and colours – here is what’s trending in 2025.

 

6–9 Months Before

• Send out save-the-dates.
• Choose and order your wedding invitations.
• Book accommodation for out-of-town guests – our onsite rooms make this easy!

 

3–6 Months Before

• Finalise the menu and schedule a tasting with our catering team.
• Create your wedding day timeline.
• Shop for wedding party attire.

 

1–3 Months Before

• Confirm final details with your suppliers.
• Create seating plans and place cards.
• Have a trial run for hair and makeup.

 

1–2 Weeks Before

• Reconfirm timings with your venue and suppliers.
• Pack an emergency kit for the big day.
• Relax – you’re almost there!
