Our big day – a look back at The BIG Derby Conference Centre Wedding Fayre 2018

Planning a wedding means making some big decisions. What should the cake look like? What about invite designs? Oh and the most important of them all, the wedding dress itself. This May, we welcomed happy couples in waiting to our Grade II listed building to show them what is possible for their big day.

Here comes the bride… and the bride… and another bride!

Hosted in partnership with our friends at Bridefayre, The Big Derby Conference Centre Wedding Fayre saw over 70 separate wedding parties come to Derby to have a look at what the 44 exhibitors had to offer.

Thanks to Bridefayre, brides and two of their guests could attend the event for free. And once the doors opened at 11 am, out came the checklists!

Having hosted several [insert actual amount of weddings we used to do!] weddings ourselves in the past, our team could really appreciate the importance of planning and choice. Every detail has to be spot-on, and it was a pleasure to give brides, grooms and their guests an insight into what is out there for them.

A very special day

Taking place in our spacious Sunken Lounge, the Fayre brought together a range of wedding service providers who were all keen to show how they could contribute to a couple’s special day. Those exhibiting included photographers, florists, musicians, cake designers…and of course we had our own stand to talk to attendees about the wonderful wedding spaces and packages we offer here at The Derby Conference Centre.

Though all of the exhibitors offered something different, they had one thing in common – they want to help make a wedding the special day that it is. There was a great range of wedding packages on show, which offered good value for money and would no doubt be perfect for the upcoming weddings.

Eleanor, our Conferences and Events Co-ordinator, said the Fayre “has been a wonderful day and it’s been a pleasure to help wedding planners and brides see exactly what is out there. A wedding is always a special day but we know it can be hard to narrow down everything or even know where to start sometimes. Hopefully by coming to the Fayre, brides and grooms have a better idea of how to make their big day the perfect day.”

Location, location, location

Being based in Derby meant that exhibitors and attendees never had to travel too far to get to the Fayre either. Located just off the M1 and M42 motorways and with Derby train station a bouquet’s throw away, we were delighted to welcome businesses and happy couples from across the region. Our free car park was quickly full and brides-to-be were offered a complimentary hot drink courtesy of Bridefayre. And once the Fayre began to wind down, it warmed our hearts to see all the smiling faces as the parties made their way home – but not on horse-drawn carriages just yet!
