Sammie Steps Up at Conference Centre

The Derby Conference Centre has announced the promotion of a new Marketing Manager.

Samantha O’Neill, originally joined the venue in 2020 on a 1-year student placement within the Sales & Marketing team, after graduating with a first-class Event Management degree from the University of Derby, who then went on to secure a full-time role as Conference & Events Sales Executive/Marketing Co-ordinator. Earlier this year, Sammie was then promoted to Senior Sales & Marketing Executive, and now Marketing Manager.

This is the first time the conference centre has had a Marketing Manager, and the aim of this new role is to further enhance the presence of the Derby Conference Centre around the Midlands.

In the new role, Sammie will be working on a new marketing strategy, all digital marketing, brand awareness and strengthening customer relationships in all aspects of the business. Being a multi-purpose venue, the DCC holds weddings for up to 200 people, as well as over 100 events a year, alongside conferences and meetings, as well as having on-site office space and hotel – there is a lot of opportunity that can be further explored and developed.

The DCC is committed to people development, which is why as part of Sammie’s promotion, they are investing and enrolling her into a Chartered Institute of Marketing course, to further enhance her skills and knowledge within the industry.
